Mercedes-Benz Trucks is in China for the long run, said a senior company executive at the ongoing China International Import Expo on Monday.
“Be it localized or imported business, and no matter how the market cycle turns, we are here for the long run,” said Holger Scherr, president and CEO of Beijing Foton Daimler Automotive Co and also head of the joint venture’s Mercedes-Benz Business Unit.
The company is presenting the full portfolio of its imported trucks at the annual expo, including the Arocs, the Atego, and the Unimog.
Both the Atego and the Unimog are results of cooperation with Chinese companies Yutong SPV and ACOPE.
Scherr said the annual expo continues to unleash the positive signal of openness and collaboration of the Chinese market, and it has witnessed the company’s expanded footprint in China.
He said the very first Mercedes-Benz truck model the company had showcased at the CIIE, the Actros, has been locally produced in China for more than one year.
“With local R&D and manufacturing capabilities, rigor Mercedes-Benz quality standards, comprehensive local supply chain, and a denser network, we are able to be closer and act faster to the Chinese market,” he said.
Mercedes-Benz Trucks is strengthening local partnerships and working closely with Chinese partners to achieve mutual benefit and win-win results.
At this year’s expo, the company inked deals with Yutong SPV, XCMG Fire Protection and Compaks RV in such fields as vehicle modification, sales, and after-sales services.
“Committed to driving our customers’ success with reliable and efficient transportation solutions, we are confident in seizing vast opportunities of innovation and sustainability in the Chinese market, contributing to its high-quality development,” said Scherr.
